2017 National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week 2017

May 6, 2017 was the start of a very special week: National Nurses Week. While we should consider every week Nurses Week, this is an opportunity to truly highlight the incredible work and impact these men and women have on the health of the world. Nurses Week ends on May 12 each year, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration, nursing is the nation’s largest health care profession, with more than 3.1 million registered nurses nationwide. Of all licensed RN’s, 2.6 million (84.8%) are employed in nursing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that RN’s comprise the largest segment of professionals working in the healthcare industry.

With staggering numbers like that, it’s extremely important to honor and appreciate the caring individuals who have chosen nursing as their career path. During National Nurses Week, Compassionate Care would like to extend a special thanks to our nurses, and nurses from across the country, as they continue to provide the highest level of quality care to their patients. They deserve special recognition for their efforts in delivering compassionate care while embodying the principles of ethical practice in their profession.
